    audioplayer displaying wrong artistname

Refers to: audio player (latest beta)

When artistname is "Bjök" audio player shows "Bjrk" in musiccollection window.
    I use windows XP.
My language is set to Dutch.

When not showing the right artistname users would try to adjust te artist-tag while the tag is fine.

    Nice program this audio player

Is the "ö" a non-ASCII character? I'm pretty sure that dAP doesn't support reading Unicode, just like the other Illustrate products don't.

a little correction I think some of the new releases of dmc support unicode tags... and then dap shows them too if I'm not mistaken... I think R11 of dmc is good enough...

try it and tell us how it went...

Please tell me what to do. Do i have to install something?

        BTW
I'm not talking about DMC but about audioplayer.

I assumed this is the place to give input to the latest beta of audioplayer.

Are you seeing that name correctly in the popup info when hovering over that file name in Windows Explorer?

dAP should show the same thing. You need dMC to support the creation of the tags correclty first.

If you are not seeing it correctly, try to edit the id tag again and see if it takes.

If not, run dMC Configuration and copy to the clipboard your configuration and paste it here. If you cannot do this, then you don't have the latest version of dMC.

It works for me just fine with all the accented characters.

It is the correct place to give input on the latest beta of the audio player.
As for why donny mentioned updating dMC, this is because it updates the mp3 decoder and the support for Unicode tags.

I did not know DAP is for buyers of DMC only.
In Musicmatch Jukebox and windows Explorer the tags are shown correct.
To avoid future questions i advise to analyse this problem.
I am willing to send you an example of a file and/or screenshots of the beta-screens as a proof.

You don't have to "buy" dMC. The registration requirement is for using the mp3 encoding codec which is covered by a patent, and also for the advanced features availabe in the PowerPack.

But dMC is an engine that drives the player as well, since it has to decode the audio files using various codecs in order to play them back.

Unregistered dMC performs all decoding actions that are needed for playback by dAP and all encoding you may want to do as well, except for encoding to mp3 and for the advanced PowerPack features (like 2-pass VBR encoding, etc.).
