    Re: Beta: [Multi-Encoder] utility Codec

I'm trying to accomplish the same thing: two libraries, one lossless the other lossy for my portable. However I wat the tags and ratings to be in sync (so I only have to edit one of the libraries). Let us know if you ever figure out how to do this. Right now I rip into lossless, convert to lossy and use 2 different programs to edit the differnt files if if I change ratings or other tags (like genre)

You are the freakin' man, Spoon! This is the closest thing I've find to what I'm looking for.
As it is, I know I can rip to 3 formats at once (Flac, mp3 and wav), all with the same filename structure, in 3 different directories.

Excellent Work. This is definitely going to be used. Many times I need to convert my files to 64/32 for my Muvo and also 96/44 for my minidisk. Now I can do both in one step. AND in less time overall.

        Great Job and Thanks.

Is there a Help file yet for the Multi-Encoder?

There doesn't appear to be, no.

If you have specific questions, you can post them here.

            Best wishes,
            Bill

              Re: Beta: [Multi-Encoder] utility Codec

how can we use tags in the separate folders? i found that it just dumped the files in whichever folder i specified. when i tried adding "[artist]\[year] - [album]\" to the beginning of the individual lines, it used that exact path without replacing them with the tags. thanks, though, this is what i've been looking for!

All you can change is the highest level file, for instance making it "[artist]\[year] - [album]" and then your desired other files, like \ogg or \ape. Some other thread was regarding this issue, but now it is noted in this thread.

Can you clarify exactly where you put [artist]\[album] so it will generate the folders?

My instructions referenced Audio CD Input. It seems the multi-encoder itself won't make subfolders, just add something, such as "Ogg" to the filename.

But it also seems to ignore the global options so you never get the album and artist sub folders. They all end up in the root of the FLAC and MP3 folders.

I'm not sure what your doing, but I have used the multi-encoder to rip a CD to formats to the correct sub-directory on my computer. In CDGrab, my file creation option is set to
                        Code:
                        [artist]\[album]\[track number xx] - [artist] - [track]
Note that I am not referring to when you convert existing files. Also, on each codec you added to the multi-encoder, do you have the location set as "Set by dBpowerAMP Music Converter" or did you set the folder here?

I didn't have the location set to "Set by dBpowerAMP Music Converter" , but I've now done that and added FLAC\ and MP3\ to the filenames for each encoder and it now splits them so I get:

                          C:\My Music\Combined\Madonna\Confessions\FLAC\01. Hung Up.flac
                          C:\My Music\Combined\Madonna\Confessions\MP3\01. Hung Up.mp3

                          What I really want is:

                          C:\My Music\FLAC\Madonna\Confessions\01. Hung Up.flac
                          C:\My Music\MP3\Madonna\Confessions\01. Hung Up.mp3

Is this going to be possible?

Actually, it is possible. I have done it. I worked through the same confusion as you, it took me a day to figure the whole thing out.

Of course, that was six months ago, now. I'll have to sit down and figure it out again, as I'm updating my libraries. If I figure it out, I'll post back in this thread.
