Question regarding the new Ogg Vorbis codec...

This audio codec seems to be really fast, but does it mean that if I re-rip all my CDs to this new Ogg Vorbis codec, I will get better sound quality? Or does this new Ogg Vorbis codec only differ in speed as compared to the original Ogg Vorbis codec?

It only differs in speed, from what I can tell. It ouputs files the same size as the regular Ogg Vorbis codec in my tests. And yes, it is WAY faster. On the order of cutting 2-3 minutes out of encoding a CD.

Sounds just fine to me. Haven't done a Head-to-Head listening test, but it sounds no different then how regular Ogg sounded.

Re: Question regarding the new Ogg Vorbis codec...

I love this new encoder's speed. It averages between 2.2 and 2.5 times faster, as I went from being able to encode flac to ogg 128kbps at 10x to 25x!! yay!

            Thanks spoon!

            (yes i'm registered :-) )
