    Beta: dBpowerAMP Music Converter R11.5

A huge update for dMC, now is final release (out of beta), will be posted on main website in 1 weeks time, download:

    2.1MB

    ================================================
    Highlights:

mp3 decoder huge update: freeform mp3 files, mp2+mp1 files, lame tag reading

mp3 lame compression, if > 16 bit or 8 bit then tranforms to 16 bit. If > 2 channels then lower to 2 channels in the compressor - shouldn't now be possible to get an error mp3 encoding about not opening compressor (needs testing) <--- see if you can get a conversion to fail.

    CD Input - freedb proto6 compatible (utf-8)

dMC Configuration redesigned - Wizard to configure dMC, added a copy to clipboard [version info and installed codecs], split encoder and decoder list new Options and Tag Options tab

Artist - Album - Track Number explorer column, sort audio files based on albums!

AccurateRip included as standard (has to be activated in dBpowerAMP Settings)
    ================================================
    R11.1 Changes:

First run a configuration wizard is shown, dMC Configuration redesigned.

DSP Silence removal - can now specify lower -db values (a 0.1 percentage number) which might be needed for early cd releases (with wide dynamic range)

mp3 decoder was requiring msvcrtp60.dll - now compiled static
mp3 decoder huge update: rewritten, now can read (once more) freeform mp3 files, mp2+mp1 files.
mp3 decoder now reads lame tag and shows compression type used
mp3 decoder better bitrate calculation for non-vbr header files
mp3 decoder options in dMC Configuration: Ignore CRC errors + output as (16, 24, 32 bit)

mp3 lame compression, if > 16 bit or 8 bit then transforms to 16 bit. If > 2 channels then lower to 2 channels in the compressor - shouldn't now be possible to get an error mp3 encoding about not opening compressor

Smart install WMA 9 updated to 9.1

XP & 2000 - if have no admin rights then ripping method 'Windows Internal' is selected automatically

Music Converter will self detect decoded buffer overrun (if a bug in decoding codec)
Music Converter will self detect data not block aligned (if a bug in decoding codec)

dmc - when setting priority to above average, only warns if ripping a CD (not for normal conversion)
dmc - if clear dsp is checked then next time go onto dsp page is unchecked

Wave Compression - option to write WaveformatExtensible (only for more than 16 bits, or 2 channels) older programs couldn't read WFXEX

CD Input - ASPI was set as default if installed, Direct SCSI Pass is better and used instead
CD Input - when previewing a track, shows track playing in bold with a |> icon
CD Input - 3rd Artist column extended length of screen
CD Input - when editing a track title (F2) does not show old text under (looked scruffy)
CD Input - Can set [- minus] compilation number & more than 99
CD Input - When select a compression codec (rip to menu) it auto shows the compression settings page
CD Input - toc detection only work for 1 rip then is auto off
CD Input - redesigned freedb options page, added proxy auto detect button, first run of dmc config will autodetect proxy
CD Input - when 2nd instance starts the first tries to set focus (will flash in xp)
CD Input - freedb proto6 compatible (utf-8) - will have to wait for dmc R12 for full unicode compatible (currently will convert to current code page)
CD Input - if using Power Pack option 'Auto Rip' will not autorip if cd is not found in cddb
CD Input - added better detection of damaged audio cds

Aux Input: Sound recording volume meter opened with full windows path

dMC Configuration redesigned - added a copy to clipboard [version info and installed codecs], split encoder and decoder list new Options and Tag Options tab
Two new Explorer columns added: Album - Track Number and Artist - Album - Track Number allowing sorting of albums in Explorer!, other items no longer -Artist- but ' Artist '

dMC Scripting rewritten, new values to set codec settings (see updated developer scripting page after r11.5 full release)

    Bug Fixes

Files which contains id3v1 + ape2 tags (but tag info was not in both, ie artist just id3v1, then artist was not being read)
Data was being lost converting small length samples 750ms from 11KHz to 44KHz with wave
CD Input >> options: couldn't change Rip to path, or File Arrangement on first try, also Rip to Path limited characters could type.
dmc - shutdown option from Power Pack page not used correctly
if play a sound in dmc is on and skip finished is checked, sound was never played
Adaptive Normalize bug that could jumble up an audio file (bits at the end in the middle)
A corrupt audio cd could crash CD ripping (non rip to ram)
Wave - certain PCM waves incorrectly have CBextra !=0 (which was causing problems later)
cd input - select last track (edit track name) then straight away click artist - the last track looses focus and typing the artist sets for all tracks
mp3 decoder was not working on mp2 decoding
When calling getpopupinfo.exe (is separate so if audoi file reading crashes it crashes getpopup not the shell!), if selected a ram drive it would call getupupinfo indefinitely, now caches last
Rip to Ram was taking cpu cycles when shouldn't have, now more efficient (now when ripping to wave on mine cpu is 10% usage)
Unicode popup info in Explorer had problems
Explorer columns now displays unicode characters (R12 will be required to read from filenames containing unicode letters)

Can the beta be installed right on top of the registered version? Will I lose my registration?

Yes, you can install the beta over your current version. No, this will not make you lose your registered status.

Edit: note that you must tell it to NOT uninstall the older version.

My compliments...you've fixed the "silence removal" tool. It works perfectly now.

              a bug report:
if the path/filename has illegal chars such as |, the file cannot be read/written. (note that this happens in far-east boxes which using DCBS)

It will not be until r12 that unicode filenames are supported.

Spoon I have a general-ish question regarding programs : When you say that r12 will support unicode, does that mean that no matter how hard you try, no r11 beta will support unicode?

Well, basically, what I mean is that is r12 gonna be totally different from r11 code-wise? Sorry if I sound like a noob.

Making dMC Unicode compatible will require re-writting the reading and writing of tags and filenames. So no r11 beta will support Unicode, though he COULD if he really wanted to, but he is waiting for R12.

Maybe there will be a quickfix that making dMC accessing files like dAP?

                        dAP cannot read unicode filenames.

Getting unicode support is about 2 weeks of programming and lots of testing (too much for r11.1).

but dAP won't touch the file path so that the file can be converted. This is all I want.
