With such a file all programs can only guess where it came from. I would say R11.5 is better at detecting files, the old one defaulted to FHG too much, so in your case it appeared better, it should say (Guess) after it is guessing, No guess and you are sure of the file origin.

Now I know why I found a lot of Blade :thumbdown encoded mp3s in the audio files downloaded after I installed 11.5. :D Before (with 11.1) I found very little number of this, some files sound like compressed with Blade and it still showed FhG, I was confussed a little bit
      Thanks for this explanation.

This may not be an issue with the dMC Beta and it is not major but I have noted that my Mp3 files are now showing up labelled as dBpowerAMP MP3pro files both in MMC and on popup (although they also showup as being encoded by FhG, Xing, Lame, etc).

I suspect this is cosmetic only but it is a bit puzzling.

          Best wishes,
          Bill

You have installed the mp3pro decoder?

That is why, all mp3 files are then classed as mp3pro by the decoder.

When one converts a playlist of files, is it possible to have dbpa create a new playlist with the new converted files in whatever directory the files are in?

One more thought on that same line: If one selects a bunch of files to convert, could the program create a playlist?

why exactly was the registration added in for? the lame encoder license? isnt there another way of making this program free again? i thought you could just download the lame encoder files anyway by themselves...

Being able to download doesn't mean also being allowed to use them.

The codec is always free. Its use is governed by patent legislation. If you reed the entire discussions you will understand what's at stake.

You are of course free to use whatever else you find. But Spoon won't risk being sued for big bucks. Right or wrong, this is the way things stand right now.

so after 30 days with the newest release, beta included, you have to register or everything will stop working?

if thats true, why not just make the mp3 encoder option stop working only instead of the whole program?
