Convert the flac file to a small mp3 file, then try to mp4, if it still crashes please send me the mp3 file to:

I had the same problem too. It dosen't happen on any other computers in my house, so I thought it was just me. Also it works fine with the MP4 Beta 5 on my computer, and crashes with the official version.

Yes it does crash when going from MP3 to MP4

            it also crashes with

            wav > MP4
            CD Input > MP4
            MP3 > MP4
            AAC > MP4
            FLAC > MP4

But I have 5 computers in my house:

            2 XP home
            1 XP Pro
            2 2000 Pro

and only my XP Pro computer crashes. So i'm pretty sure it's just my configuration cause I've never had the problem with my other computers.

But for some strange reason when I downgrade to MP4 Beta 5 Everything works fine. Only the final release crashes. Also the final release of the AAC codec crashes. No other CLI codecs crash on my computer though.

Ok I e-mailed the mp3 to you. But I did some more experimenting.

I experience the problem on the following operating systems:

                XP Pro SP1
                2000 Pro SP4

And I don't experience the problem on:

                Win98
                XP Home SP1

And on the Pro Operating systems,
                MP4 Beta 5 work
                MP4 Final Crashes
                AAC Crashes

Official version of release 10 fixes some problems:

                  Now

                  Pro Operating systems,
                  MP4 Beta 5 works
                  MP4 Final works
                  AAC still Crashes

Funny I cannot get it to crash, can you try dMC configuration and enable the 'ape2' tagging. Then convert Mp3 to Mp3, does that crash?

The MP4 codec has been updated since this thread first started. I no longer experience any of the problems mentioned above. If you are still experiencing problems, I recommend you update to the latest version of dBpowerAMP and the MP4 codec's.
