    Re: dBpoweramp R14.4 BETA

Spoon - how about announcing the newest versions in the first post on this forum: where the beta download link is announced (makes it much easier than sifting through the postings and is what other beta offerings do)

      Re: dBpoweramp R14.4 BETA

I don't know if where the problem is, but I have had this happen a few times now. Thankfully I usually catch it. What is happening is dBpoweramp will rip a disc, report the rip as accurate and write an invalid or corrupt/unplayable file. I am ripping to flac and it should be verifying the integrity of the file, so this should NEVER happen, but it is...

FWIW, it seems to have happened to me on one rip using R13 back in 2008. Wrong checksum, wrong length at two consecutive tracks. Did you check what errors e.g. foobar2000's integrity verifier yields?

              Foobar:
              Code:
Unable to open item for playback (Unsupported format or corrupted file):
              "E:\Deadmau5\4x4=12 (11) (8F10620B)\04 - Bad Selection.flac"
What do you mean, "locked"? The files are not set to read only.

dBpoweramp shows no tags with any of the files in question. They don't open or play in foobar.

The VERIFY function does not seem to be doing its job.

The file you sent to me, it has a .flac extension, but it is an Apple lossless file, if you rename .m4a the file decodes. It is also tagged, dBpoweramp would not tag a .flac file with .m4a tags, so I am sure that it was a .m4a file when written.

                  Re: dBpoweramp R14.4 BETA

hmm, I didn't change the ext. I typically run multiple instances of dbpoweramp when ripping. I have only ever ripped to Apple lossless once, when you requested. My bet is that I changed the format I was ripping to in one ripper, ripped the files in question for you (in regards to short/silent tracks and gain). Another ripper, previously set to flac was still ripping. It must have continued to write FLAC ext, but rip to Apple Lossless.

My understanding is that dbpoweramp does not support running more than one instance of the cd ripper on a machine, except when they are called via the batch ripper. Correct? Did you have one cd ripper instance open at the same time the batch ripper was running? If so, should this be stopped from happening and/or a warning given?

I don't use the batch Ripper. I have been running 1 instance of the CD ripper per drive for years without any issues.

Ok. But I know spoon has said that doing so can cause problems.

As long as profile settings are not editing during ripping, it is ok.
