Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter R14.1
Hmm, still didn't get it - what's the difference b/n this mode and compression = 0 in FLAC? The stream must be in flac format according to the flac spec, meaning that the flac encoding should be done over the LPCM data and on the other side the renderer still has to decode the flac stream. Otherwise, the renderer will refuse the stream as invalid flac stream... I just can't get the benefits, but this could be because of my limited knowledge on these technologies. The main argument for WAV against FLAC on the audiophile side is that the decoding of the FLAC stream requires more computer power, which could reflect the SQ. But, if we stream again flac this effect remains, even if perhaps the computation power will be less, doesn't it?

Can you please elaborate more on this feature - what stream is sent to the renderer with this mode - WAV or FLAC?Leave a comment:

Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter R14.1
For those who want to see the difference, I have ripped the same cd in flac level 8 and uncompressed.
Length of cd : 42'09 / 10 tracks
Flac Lossless Level 8 (Highest) : 296 Mo
Flac Lossless Uncompressed : 427 MoLeave a comment:

Update 4th April
Minor update, FLAC encoder wording changed, also includes a FLAC Uncompressed encoding option (which stores audio uncompressed, for those who want WAVE PCM but with better ID Tagging).
Hopefully R14.1 can make full release before the end of this month.Leave a comment:

Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter R14.1
Just adding my experience with this...
With latest dBpoweramp R14.1 beta and v4.0.02 of the MultiEncoder, I have encoded some files using just the flac encoder using dynamic paths, and no extra tags were added. when using the multi-encoder, all those extra tags such as channel_subone and now_year are added.
However, I would like to add that this is does not appear to be restricted to FLAC files - these tags were added to both the MP3 and FLAC files made by the multi-encoder, but again, only when dynamic paths were used. Nothing happened when outputting to a specific folder.

Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter R14.1
I think the tags comes from the Multi Encoder, even if I Disable Tag Writing from the Options menu, the extra tags are written.
I did test the file with metaflac.exe --list
With tag writing enabled it looks like thisCode:METADATA block *blooper*1 type: 4 (VORBIS_COMMENT) is last: false length: 553 vendor string: reference libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917 comments: 18 comment[0]: length=207706 comment[1]: length_mmss=3.27 comment[2]: length_hhmmss=00.03.27 comment[3]: extension=flac comment[4]: origpath=Users\Anders\Music\Manic Street Preachers\Postcards From a Young Man comment[5]: origfilename=01 Manic Street Preachers - (It's Not War) Just the End of Love comment[6]: protected=No comment[7]: gapless=No comment[8]: date=30.03.2011 comment[9]: time=08:38:10 comment[10]: day_of_week=3 comment[11]: now_year=2011 comment[12]: frequency=44100 comment[13]: channels=2 comment[14]: channels_subone=1 comment[15]: bits_per_sample=16 comment[16]: bytes_per_sample=2 comment[17]: Title=01 Manic Street Preachers - (It's Not War) Just the End of Love

The odd thing is, these tag values, I do not recognize, dBpoweramp has no place holder for them. Can you think where these might have come from? unless they were manually specified dBpoweramp would never write these.Leave a comment:

Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter R14.1
I think it is only the Year tag that have the wrong value ('Year: 2010-09' vs 'Year: 29.03.2011').
The 16 extra tags are:

When using the Multi Encoder and ripping to 'Output Location' Dynamic , a lot of unwanted tags is written to the file and some of the tags have the wrong value. This does not happen when I use 'Output Location' Folder.
Here is the exit debug log when ripping to FLAC in a static folder.

Yes Sir, it did indeed fix the problem. Multi-Encoder now works perfectly for encodes and CD rips, and as a bonus, the progress bars move now! :-)
