    Re: [Multi Encoder] Release 4

    Huge improvement, although still not as fast as single format encoding. I'm getting around 8x-10x on the multi-encoder now compared to 1x before. However, on a single format encode I get around 21x..

      The real encoding speed is Number Of Multi Formats x Shown Speed (as the shown speed has no connection to the multi-encoder).

        Something doesn't seem right with Release 4:

        - with release 3, I can get 135x encoding speed and never encounter a sluggish computer even though CPU use is close to 100% ( I can surf the web without much problem)

        - with release 4, I can only get 35x, and computer is essentially nonfunctional other than proceeding with the encoding tasks (can't surf without huge delay in controlling the mouse, etc)

        I have 2 cpus, both are used in both cases. Running 32 bit Vista with all OS updates, using reference r14 and latest betas. Process priority is "normal' in both cases. Encoding to a local drive in both cases (only variable that changed was the multi-encoder codec)

        The above holds true for tasks like Replaygain, or converting FLAC to mp3.

            All that I tried:

            ape to flac
            flac to mp3
            replaygain mp3
            replaygain flac

            using Batch Converter

              The new version requires more memory, a sluggish mouse suggests the memory is going to page file.

                I'll check the page file behavior. FWIW, max physical memory usage is less than 40% under peak load in both cases, I have several gigs unused, and hundreds of gigs of unused hard drive space. Could take a week or more given my time constraints and the time to switch back and forth. If you have a tool to capture such performance data that logs data I could send to you that would be much appreciated.

                  If you set the encoding priority of dbpoweramp to idle, if the mouse is jumpy then it could be pagefile
