    AccurateRip Test #2

dBpowerAMP Music Converters new feature to make rips more accurate. For an explination on how it works, visit here:

The time has come to spill the beans on AccurateRip: Starting with dBpowerAMP Music Conveter Release 10, AccurateRip will be included - this is a clever database of all CDs in existance. Hopefully the database will populate quickly after initial launch - the database is designed for about 1 Million CD discs. Initially

For those who are new to AccurateRip - it is my effort to create an eventual online database, much like freedb but this one contains CRCs of peoples CD Rips so that others can assertain if their rip is accurate. It is my understanding that this is the only way to achieve 100% AccurateRips. Needless to say it is a large database system, but only the database is not too large at the moment, that is where you lot come in One word to note, the system will not activate until it has been configured and it will not configure unless you have one of the disks listed below.

    ************************************************** **
If you have installed AccurateRip Test #1 please uninstall both dBpowerAMP Music Converter and the Accurate Rip DataBase before installing this next version.
    ************************************************** **

    Developments:

The system has been made more resistant to being infected by corrupt results by making it a requirement that a 'keying' ie recognised disc for finding offsets has to have a confidence of 2, that is the result were submitted by two independant people.

A Logfile is created when ever an offset is found.

Options menu >> Accurate Rip menu (will also tell if a disc is in dB before ripping, and the last accuraterip result).

On Options is a clear offset button to reset the offset of a drive to unconfigured.

    First install these two installs:

    dMC Release 10 Beta 4:

    1.6 MB

    AccurateRip dB:

    238 KB

    =================
    Instructions

Insert a disc that is listed below whilst Audio CD Input is running, it should recognise the disc and offer to configure AccurateRip (bear in mind that many of the discs listed below have different pressings, for different countries). If after finding the offsets it reports your drive does not support accurate streaming then you are not able to take part (yet).

Have the drive configured? Please send the file:

    C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\AccurateRip-Offset-log.txt

to dbpoweramp@dbpoweramp.com along with the make of drive.

Next with that recognising disc still in the drive, select the Rip Menu >> Rip to >> Test Conversion (No Write) and rip the CD, make a note of the results. I am interested if it says the disc was not accurately ripped.

After that you can help populate the AccurateRip database (possibly by re-ripping your entire collection!), give each disc a light clean before ripping, if you have two drives you can rip on one drive then 'Test Conversion' on the other drive to see which rips are Accurate.

Supply your rip results by emailling the file:

    C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\AccurateRip\ AccurateRipUpload.bin

    to dbpoweramp@dbpoweramp.com

be sure to DELETE this file after emailling.

NOTE in some windows versions explorer cannot display that file (don't know why), so select Start >> Search and type AccurateRipUpload.bin to find that file.

I got the disc in the mail, and I want to contribute to the database, but I have already ripped my collection before with EAC. Is there anyway you can add a way to add to the database without actually ripping the WAVs to the harddrive permanently (sort of like the EAC test feature I guess.) Well, I COULD rip into wavs and then go back and delete them...but, you can understand why that is an extra hassle when I am ripping this many CDs. Also, is there anyway you could add ogg flac tagging and replaygain to the flac plugin options? This would make it convienent for me to simply re-rip my collection into lossless and ALSO contribute to the database.

Audio CD Input >> Rip menu >> Rip To >> Test Conversion (No Write)

          >ogg flac tagging

It should already add Ogg tags to flac, the addition of Replay gain is something I plan to add to all encoders one day.

            "Savage Garden - Savage Garden"

Just popped this CD in the drive & tried the program. Error, disc not in database...wtf???

Oh well, that was my only disc that is in the list. Guess I'll have to wait till more 'popular' CDs are in the database.

Ive got 10 or 20 discs ripped and then ripped again (Test (No Write)) and I am working to get my entire family's collection added to the database. Why do I need to delete the AccurateRipUpload.bin file after emailing it to you though? Until I receive a new database verified by you, MY OWN database can still be used to verify my own discs, which would be a temporary reason to save it...lightbulb...ah, you don't want duplicates from the same person...is there another way to avoid this while keeping ones own database intact tempoararily? Also, It would be nice to have a (Test (No Write)) that rips the audio twice for each disc (or three times for that matter) to verify that it is a good rip...because, without having C1 and C2 correction or the chance of 100 % scratchless discs, even with accurate stream, even EAC can not get identical results two times (In THIS case, I suggest NOT trying to rip the cd to yuor database )...I guess for more verification than a possible 2 or 3 pass test scan (which would be a nice option to have right now) we will have to wait for the database to become populated more.

The Test Conversion feature submits info to the database? That's a nice feature...

Test Conversion does add it to the database.

                    >...is there another way to avoid this while keeping ones own database intact tempoararily?

Send me your results and I will update the dB straight away.

I will be looking in to multiple self verification rips, but my number #1 priority is to get the database populated then move it onto the internet.

AccurateRip.com goes live - exists to further the world of Digital Audio Extraction, it does this by:
                      • Home of AccurateRip - online database, technical information and compatible programs...
                      • List of CD Drive read sample offsets,
                      • Information resource for beating Protected (or damaged as I like to call them) audio CDs.

Plus we have had a few major submissions to the database, there are now over 300 Key Discs.

Thought I found a cd in the database with which I could use to configure. I guess the Prodigy - Fat of the Land album listed there is NOT the US release.

Is it possible for me to send you (and delete) my AccurateRipUpload.bin file, and then later send you a new one created by ripping CDs completely different from those in the first file?

Okay, spoon. I tried two different CDs, Dirty Vegas and Nickelback. Neither were recognized. Are there really that many CDs with that many different pressings? Or do I need to have a drive with C2 error correction? (AFAIK, none of mine do... ) I'd really like to help populate the database (not really 100 disks, but still...)
