Fixing the Multiple Premium Lookups for 1 Disc Problem

Currently, with the batch ripper and the premium services if a single disc is ripped multiple times because of difficulty with ripping (ie you may get a bad rip, clean and re-rip or try another drive), you have to pay for the premium meta-data lookups each time. Brendan and I had requested that meta-data not be retrieved until after the rip possibly, but because that the the ripper is set up that is a very difficult change to make.

    Solution:

If a rip is inaccurate send it to an inaccurate directory. For any songs that were not able to be ripped create a small dummy file and tag the dummy files with the meta-data. Instead of checking perfectmeta as a first source of meta-data check if the disc/files are in the inaccurate directory. If they are there use the meta-data from the dummy files/partial rips.

As an aside, it may even be possible to store info about partially ripped but unrecoverable files, such as C2 info, and rebuild a song from multiple different rip attempts, especially if different drives and disc repair methods are used.

Along the same lines of thought (not having to pay multiple times for what you have already purchased) I would like to again request that the highest resolution album art from ALL premium sources is downloaded and saved.

Add a commandline to batch ripper:

    --locmetcache

Which is a 1 day local meta data cache.

spoon, thanks, this is huge as it will really help with re-ripping with the robot.

I still hope that we can have in-accurate and accurate directory sorting, and I think the idea of a temporary rip file with info on bad frames from previous rip attempts could be very powerful when used with multiple drives.

      Thanks again!!

Should this option go after "batchripper.exe" when the program is called, e.g.:

        "C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\Batch Ripper.exe --locmetcache"

or in some ".ini" file ?

Where can I find a list of the options/switches available for Batch Ripper and CD Ripper?

        Thanks! Nemo

On the command line, this is the only option you need with batch ripper. There are none for cd ripper.

            Nemo -

Search for any existing shortcuts for the batch ripper (e.g. the one in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\dBpoweramp Music Converter), get the shortcut's properties and then change the Target field to:

            "C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\Batch Ripper.exe" --locmetcache

Note the placement of the quotes.
