    AMG Access

I see that the AMG Access is now severely limited. My personal CD collection is much larger then 400 discs and will continue to grow.

-this was previously unlimited. I understand that commercial users may/will start using dBpoweramp. Can I request/recommend a commercial license for them?
-can the number of personal lookups be negotiated to something more reasonable.
-what is the cost for additional lookups?
-would it be possible to negotiate a limited lookup per cd rate? Commercial rippers will be ripping the same CDs multiple times. Personal users will only need 1 (or maybe 2-3 if re-ripping like I do) lookups per disc.

If you look up the CD once, it will then store the data in a cache so it doesn't need looked up every time.

All access through batch ripper has yet to be decided with the providers. I have an agreement to allow 400 rips through the batch ripper (to AMG), belive me it was no easy task getting this agreement!

What about using FreeDB? IS there a limit to that?

Freedb is free but doesn't provide album art as far as I'm aware.

This is talking only about Batch Ripper, not CD Ripper. Batch Ripper currently does not use freedb, it will do though.

When I can't get album info from AMG in dbPoerAmp then I tend to use MP3Tag after ripping and encoding. Amazon tend to have every album and cover-art but the tags can be a mess. Musicbrainz have good tags but normally lack cover art.

Might be a good idea for Spoon to add an amazon cover art lookup as a backup to AMG in general for cdgrab use. It could also be useful in the batch ripper if the > 400 CD AMG costs are high.

GD3 will also have album art.

Amazon is not free for commercial uses either.

Amazon will not license this is what they say:

Thank you for sending your request to Amazon.com. Unfortunately we do not own the legal copyright for the images placed on our site and are therefore unable to grant 3rd party usage. You will have to contact the label, author or manufacturer to obtain permission.

And yet, there are tools on the market, including commercial ones, that can pull album art from amazon. Interesting.

Ideally, the way to handle this is to allow end users to build web-sources (ala mp3tag) to get meta-data from. Also a viable solution for lyrics until someone finally decides to license lyrics.
