Problem with Lame (wma to mp3)

I have perused the forum before posting this to make sure it is not redundant. I could find no reference to this problem.

I have a quad processor PC. The Music Converter is fabulous, four conversions at the same time. What take 11.5 three minutes 4 seconds is one in only 42 seconds in version 12. HOWEVER. . .

I have converted a number of WMA files to mp3 and here is the problem. When I use the Fraunhofer IIS codec, all works great. If I switch to the Lame codec some of the resulting mp3s get truncated (only some of them). (I have verified this with EncSpot and by listening to the mp3 itself, last few seconds aregone). This happens at any Lame optional conversion quality.

    Has anyone encountereed this?

Are you using dMC r12 or the new r12.1?

Are you sure it is to do with the quad core? if you convert 1 file what is it like?

Ok, here is more info. Based on your inquiry, and still using r12, I did the files in an album one-by-one. It is not the quad core! The same files were truncated in this mode as were truncated using the Lame codec in a quad core configuration.

Also, those same files convert fine using the Fraunhofer codec. So it narrows down to the Lame codec being the problem (wma -> to mp3). Also, I noticed that the Fraunhofer conversion is much faster than using Lame, if this were to matter. I will use r12.1 next to narrow this down a bit more.

SPOON and LtDATA - the results with r12.1 are the same. It is not a multi-core issue as I once thought. It is a lame codec issue. The same files that are truncated in Lame will convert correctly with the Fraunhofer codec.

If there is somewhere I can send you the wma files so you may test, let me know.

If the files are < 10 MB:

Ok - your new r12.2 was tested on all the files tahat were being truncated (last frame dropped when usnig Lame; WMA -> mp3). All files now convert great, no frame drops. Great job!

SPOON - the title of this thread is misleading now that the root cause of the problem was found. May want to edit it to "Problem with Lame (wma to mp3)" or something like that so it is more instructive of th contents.

                THANKS!
