Severe problems in converting big wave files to bwf

I get VERY noisy files when converting big wave files from wave to bwf. This never happened in version 11.

I wish I could upload a sample to show you what I'm talking about.

What are the specs of your WAV file (bits, channels, frequency, compressed or uncompressed) and your desired specs of your bwf files?

The wav file:

24 bit uncompressed 48000 Hz stereo

The bwf file

16bit 256 kbps dual channel 48000 Hz normalized to -12 dB

The file is about 40 minutes long, between 800 and 900 Mb.

If you convert to another format, such as mp3, are the files still noisy? Did you try using a DSP to lower the bit setting?

Try without the normalize, see if you can track down what is creating the noise.

It seems that the problem is the original file depth - 24 bit. If I first make a new file in 16 bit, the conversions will be just fine. But I think the result would be better if I could make the conversions from the original 24 bit file.

BWF or mp3 - the results are the same - noise in the converted files.

I should also add that the problem occurs with smaller files as well - it is not isolated to big, long sound files.

No, bwf is reference-only, so you will have to wait for the final version of r12.2 before you can use it.
