    Re: DirectShow Decoder (rm, ac3)

This codec is for r12. Did you install this codec to the same directory dMC was installed to? Does the codec show up in dBpoweramp Configuration? (See "Finding Version Numbers" below to read how to find dBpoweramp Configuration) Did you install dMC and the codec as Administrator?

      Re: DirectShow Decoder (rm, ac3)

I am using XP. I used to be able to convert just fine, now I get the same error. I am downloaded Windows Media Player 11 to see if that helps. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, we cannot help users with Audible files, see here for why: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=12620

OK, this is on Win XP Pro. Just installed v. 12.1
(no previous installs on this machine). Installed codecs
for realaudio. Converter shows the codec installed.
            This is in free version.
My files are .ra.ram variety. The realaudio alternative
plays them fine with MPC 6.4.9.0 but the converter fails.
It says the conversions succeeded, took 1 second
(105 x encoding speed) and I get a 1 kB .wav file in the end.
Needless to say, the .wav file has no music in it.
            WTF?

Can you play your real files that won't convert in Windows Media Player?

LtData: WMP 9.0 - no. Media Player Classic that came with RA alternative - yes.

Wayne: 200 KB to 1 MB.

If you can't play the files in WMP, then dMC cannot convert them. This is because dMC and WMP both use the DirectShow RealMedia splitter to decode the files.

                        Re: DirectShow Decoder (rm, ac3)

Well, the splitter comes with ra alternative. I also tried
installing standalone splitter. There was also a thread here
about regsvr32 [...]qedit.dll type fix, which I tried.
My DirectX checks out fine. Any suggestions or some
list of common problems I am not aware of.

The problem isn't with the splitter or DirectX but that the RealMedia Splitter cannot decode these files, apparently. Note that MPC that came with RA uses the real codecs themselves and therefore can normally decode files that the splitter cannot.

You would have to use a program to record the file as you play it in MPC. Auxiliary Input does this, but is only available for r11.5, as described here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm

                                Re: DirectShow Decoder (rm, ac3)

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there a way to use DMC12.2 to ENcode to .ac3? I've managed to configure it to decode FROM ac3 to another format, but can't seem to figure out how to go the other direction.

I know Dolby is kinda tight with their proprietary format, but there are a few utilities out there that will do it (ImToo, for example) -- am just wondering if DMC is one of them? Maybe with CLI utility?

                                Thanks! :smile2:
