I downloaded an mp3 off the internet with properties bitrate 64 kbps (doesn’t say constant or variable) & frequency 22,050 which won’t play in my sony clie, so I converted it to bitrate 128 kbps& frequency 44,100 BUT even though I check constant bitrate in advanced options, I get a file that has a Variable bitrate which the clie won’t play. What am I doing wrong. Thanks!

You should click Advanced Options and set Quality to No Preset and then check the proper option for Encoding below to Constant Bitrate.
