Re: How Do I Play .ATP Files?

Didn't you ask the person who gave you the CD what player can play those files?

It appears from the image that they are associated with Windows Media Player, but who knows how that came about. Anyobody can make the association manually, it doesn't mean it will actually play, unless the file is actually in a format known by WMP.

Of course that association could have been made by you as you attempted to open the files using WMP, told the system to always use that program for thsoe file extensions and now the icon stays.

Google says it is however in http://www.nch.com.au/acm/formats.html :
atrac (.oma, .omg, .atp) - the newer style Sony proprietary format designed for minidisc use. It always has a .oma, .omg or .atp file extension. It is similar to mp3 and probably only useful if you are reading files from minidiscs or writing for minidiscs.
