When converting a file to FLAC (from mp3 or mp4) it allows you to set the compression level from 0 (Low) to 8 (High). This may be a dumb question, but it has some raised some issues with live music trading - does 0 mean low compression and high audio quality, or does it mean low audio quality? Basically, which is gonna be the best, lossless compression, 0 or 8? Many thanks!

Re: Converting to FLAC format
The compression level will NOT, repeat NOT, affect the audio quality of lossless files such as FLAC or Monkey's. All it does is affect how CPU-intensive the decompression and playing of such files will be. Normally, the best results are obtained with a value in the middle or just below the middle. -
Re: Converting to FLAC format
It also isn't wise converting from lossy (mp3 / mp4) to a lossless, you might as well leave the audio file as is.Comment
