Audio CD Input conversion problem

I had no luck converting a CDA to MP3 so followed advice given to another member and I tried ripping from audio CD input and got this message:
The CODEC required to decompress '\\CdRom\Track01.cda' could not be opened.
.CDA files can only be converted from a CD Drive, not a hard disk

I AM trying to convert from a CD and NOT the hard disk!
please help

How did you select your drive? Click options > cd drive - is that the correct one? It really should show a drive letter like D:\ followed by the description of the type of drive inside [ ] .
