How do I chop up one mp3 into many?

I love the music converter program! My problem is that the the auto start and stop for recording streaming music is making too many mistakes.

So, I'd rather record say an hour's worth of mp3, and then manually chop it up into different songs. What's the easiest and quickest (and free) way for me to do this?

What you are asking would involve using dMC Auxiliary Input without auto start/stop, capturing to mp3 or wav and then using a wav or mp3 editor. Nero has one. I got it free with one of my cd burners a while ago, but I think normally it's not free. I don't know of any free ones out there other than fre trial versions which may not save. I'd think that in any case this involves more work.

I may not have understood your problem/question properly, but here's my suggestion anyway.

I assume you're talking about capturing audio through dMC Auxiliary Input while playing an audio stream coming from either a meta-file with the extension .asx/.wax/.m3u or else directly from an .asf file.

If it's a meta file, try to download the ingredient audio files whose names appear in the meta file (edit it using Notepad). Unless they are pointing to a streaming server (a url starting with something other than http://), you can download them all and use the converter program on all those files.

If the files are .asf with a url pointing to a streaming server (not http://), then you can only capture them through dMC Auxiliary Input. Do that separately for each file.

I prefer to capture to wav when I use dMC Auxiliary Input and then convert or compress the wav to whatever other format I need.
