    Re: Naming classical music

Just a note that in garym's example naming string above:
    [composersort]/[album]/[conductor]-[orchestra]/[title]

you may have to use [tag]composersort[] instead of [composersort] (this is due to some unknown oddity with some tags in CDRipper).

So, the naming string may have to be:
    [tag]composersort[]/[album]/[conductor]-[orchestra]/[title]

Thanks for your patience on this one.

Your explanation has been very good but I don't seem able to replicate the outcome. I am attaching a couple of screenshots that might help.

For ease of reference, I have changed the work to a single symphony piece by Arnold Bax.

      I was hoping for a folder structure of Media/Music/Bax, Arnold/Symphony No. 6/Munich Symphony Orchestra - Douglas Bostock/track.....

      What I got was Media/Music/Arnold Bax/Symphony No. 6/[orchestra] - Douglas Bostock/track.....

I don't seem able to get the composer in the format of Last Name/First Name and I cannot get the orchestra's name to appear, despite both of these showing in the tag editor.Click image for larger version

I just read this after I sent my previous message. That is definitely getting closer. Now I get:

        Bax, Arnold/Symphony No. 6/Douglas Bostock-[orchestra]/Allegro con fuoco

The composer's name is as I want it but I cannot get the orchestra name to come up.

          [tag]composersort[]/[album]/[conductor]-[tag]orchestra[]/[title]

by the way, I would probably always add track number to my naming, as otherwise, occassionally you'll get file overwriting when two tracks have exactly the same name.

            [tag]composersort[]/[album]/[conductor]-[tag]orchestra[]/[track]-[title]

            or better yet, include disc

            [tag]composersort[]/[album]/[conductor]-[tag]orchestra[]/[disc].[track]-[title]
