    Cd ripping

Hi all! I've just invested in DB power amp and just want to know if there is anything I need to do in particular before I start ripping my all of my cds? I've got a decent external hard drive and external CD ripper.
    many thanks indeed Big L

Do some test ripping of different kinds of CDs (single CDs, multdisk CDs, compilation (i.e., Various Artist) CDs, etc.). Use a naming string that makes sense to you and you can live with. Make sure that all the various metadata tag fields you want are ticked in settings. Experiment a bit before getting too far in. And play/view these in one or more of the typical servers/players you use for your music. Nothing worse than ripping several thousand CDs, only to discover that you would have done it differently.

I use this naming string that automatically deals with single disc, multidisk, and compilations. This is for windows. Mac *may* require that the back slashes are forward slashes instead.

      [MAXLENGTH]240,[IFCOMP]Compilations\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title] - [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title][][]

And in addition, within the program click on every one of the menu items at the top and every one of the submenu items? You don't need to study it all, but just to create an awareness of where all the controls and settings are.

Regarding artwork, do you want to embed art in each file, have art as a separate file in the album folder (named folder.jpg or cover.jpg?) or both. What size artwork do you want?
