macOS Catalina (or newer) introduces per program security access settings, normally macOS will ask when the program tries to access something if it should be granted permission. This security setting can also be set at a later date, click the Apple menu icon: System Preferences >> Privacy & Security >> Full -
Ok, I'm new to this tech stuff and can't decode your simple instruction! I've got to privacy & security but don't know what >> Privacy & Security >> Full means! I decided to just buy the full version and have seen in the bottom left corner, next to CD Drive it says dsk2 [ATAPI -iHas124 W] but for some reason in settings.cd drive it says No drive selected.Comment

You should insert an audio CD, then look in those options, Choose 'Launchpad' >> SettingsComment

Hey Seneca, just chiming in, I had a similar issue before. Make sure the CD you're inserting is an actual audio CD (not a data disc or MP3 CD), or it won’t show up. Also, once it’s in, try quitting and reopening dBpoweramp; sometimes it just needs a refresh to detect the drive properly.Comment

I've had dbPoweramp for years now, but I'm using a hefty desktop OWC DVD burner I just bought recently (not a slim drive, but an internal DVD drive in enclosure). [Edit: My computer system is MacOS running Sequois 15.5]
I've had I think the same problem, and I did everything suggested here as well, with the security settings & audio CD inserted. I also tried using a different cable which didn't help and uninstalled the software completely (with App Cleaner), reinstalled software and restarting the computer.
But it has been reading and ripping the majority of my CD's as expected. And without issues.
When I go to Settings in CD Ripper, and select CD Drive, 95% of the time it says "no drive selected" and I cannot un-check "Read into Lead-in or Lead-Out".
It has shown the CD/DVD drive a couple times and i was able to un-check it, but when the drive is 'not selected' it has that check box filled in and grayed out.
There was one time soon after I got the new DVD drive, when the drive did show up as 'selected', I did check the "Read into Lead-in..." box, thinking it was a good idea, but now it's just stuck at that setting when there is no drive selected.
This has caused the problem on some discs (but not all) to not be able to rip the very last track. And when that happens I've just used either Apple Music or XLD to rip the last track.
It's kind of annoying, but I'm fortunately able to get all the songs ripped with the help of other software.
My old portable slim burner didn't have this problem. But I never tried to change the CD drive settings on the old drive.Comment
