    Control Asset Server on PC

On the PC hosting asset server how do I play tracks?
Windows Media Player picks up Asset Server as another library but is a bit flakey. New albums require a manual refresh. Library loads slowly and imperfectly. Huge silence between tracks as media loads.
Is this because of Windows Media Player / Asset Server interface when played on same PC?
Have read of Asset Control but this does not look available to download and has gone quiet since 2009

The download for Asset control is still there how ever it is a control point you still need a player, perhaps try Foobar2000 with the UPnP module.

I'm going to use this topic as an excuse to request some basic assistance in configuring and using Asset, which I have downloaded. Is there such a thing as a user manual and if so where do I find it?

A lot seems simple and intuitive but I am struggling to understand the difference between "local mode" and "service mode" and what special things I may need to do to configure the latter so that I only need to keep Asst on one (always on) PC but can use it to serve audio to the whole network.

I am hoping that Asset will solve some issues I am having with 5 Simple Audio Roomplayer + units that I have in the house. They work well but the UPnP aspects of their software are poor and it's getting worse because Simple Audio are out of business and nothing is being updated. A month or so ago the PC and iPad controllers lost the ability to display album artwork and Iam hoping that Asset will be a workaround. Any guidance on particular problems of using Asset with the latest / final version of Simple Audio software will be greatly appreciated.

There is no downloadable manual but there is some help here:

Leave the Asset Running Mode as Local Account (recommended).

If you want more information on running applications as a Windows Service look here:
Read an introduction to Windows service applications. Services let you create long-running executable applications that run in their own Windows sessions.

The manual for Asset is shown after installing Asset, or you can access through the start menu.
