How do I listen to a cd successfully ripped by dbpoweramp via Windows 8.1

I must first apologise for the question I am about to ask. I am a complete novice at all things audio and have just successfully downloaded dbpoweramp reference and perfect tunes. I successfully set up the cd ripper and ripped 3 cd's. The cd ripper confirmed a successful rip. I can see the 'files' in my Music folder but I cannot play them. I am offered the option to play in Windows Media Player but when I accept I get the windows media player window for a few seconds but then it cuts off. So could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or what I haven't done? Also I had assumed that after ripping I would get a similar set-up to Windows Media Player with the albums displayed and able to be selected for playing, does dbpoweramp not have something similar. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thank You.

Dbpoweramp is a ripper/converter not a player. For playing you need something like windows media player, iTunes, Winamp, foobar2000, etc. what format did you rip files to? Flac? Wmp may not play flac, not sure.

Thank you for your reply. I did rip in flac. You are right that windows media player does not play flac. I chose dbpoweramp mainly because it did offer me the option to rip in flac and I assumed that it would come with a player which would enable me to build up a flac library for future transfer to something like a Sony HAP S1. I wanted flac rather than wav in order to maximise disk space and to gain the best possible album data transfer. I will follow your suggestion and download foobar 2000. Thank you again.

FYI. I do all my ripping to FLAC and I use foobar2000 as my PC playback system. So I agree with your choices.
