Converting .mpa to .wav

I am very very very new to file conversions. I am on a job site and I need to convert an mpa file to a wav file. I have purchased the dbpoweramp software and I get a message saying unable to convert because codec is not installed. I went to Codec Central but I am as lost as a goose in Sunday School when I get there. I need help.

Try renaming it to .mp3, then convert.
