New to dBpoweramp and this forum. Past use EAC, Plextools and Magix software. I've been ripping my Redbook CDs with your CD ripper with minor problems generally solve by substituting one of my other drives. I like the program. My question concerns the CDs I made of my LP and Cassette collection using Magix's software to breakout the tracks, cleanup the audio, and save and tag as .wav files. Will your CD Ripper be able to encode these files to .flac, or should I be looking for another way to archive them.

Thanks for the reply Spoon. Snowing here in NJ...rather archive than shovel. Yes I know I can r/c and convert, but that's not the problem. If I rip the CD-rs using your Cd Ripper 1 in 4 picks up the metadata and rips correctly to Flac, just no Accuraterip. The other 3 show the tracks and lengths, but no data. I try the "Get Metadata" button, but no joy. These are all rips of cassettes and vinyl that I digitized and mastered with Magix's Cleaning Lab 2013 and burned as Wav cds. I was able to convert all of them to MP3s using either Windows Media Player or EAC and all the tags were there. Catraxx also catalogs them correctly. I know the Flac encoder tags differently, but if the info is there, why isn't Cd Ripper seeing it? Also, all the media is from the same batch...I tested both burnt and empty disks with Plextools...I have 3 optical drives in my rig and have switched between them.Comment

CD-Rs normally do not have metadata (unless was written with CD Text), so the internet databases need to be used to fetch. If your disc is unique to you this information will not exist on the internet.Comment

OK...I'm still learning. Perused this and other forums to gain some knowledge. When I used your CDRipper program to archive my commercial CDs it was able to find the meta data from the TOC even though the files on the Cd showed up as .cda which I now understand is basically just a shortcut to the music tracks. The Cds I made from my tape and LP collection ended up as audio Cds and when I bring them up in explorer they show the tracks with a .cda extension just like a commercial cd. Some of the disks rip fine with all the metadata intact, the others will just show Track *1...Track *2... and so on. I've been able to copy the Cds without the metadata back into Audio Cleaning Lab and use it to run a manual search of freedb.org...find the metadata for the album and use copy and paste to put in the tracks and then encode to .flac. Time consuming and I'm not to sure of the quality of the rip. Is there a way to do a manual search of the databases using CDRipper, get the track info, and then do a secure rip?Comment

Probably the most often used codec/format for LOSSLESS files. You don't "rip" the wav files, you use the converter to convert the wav files to FLAC. FLaC files are lossless (just like WAV), but have a bit of size compression (but again, still LOSSLESS), have player standards for tagging and artwork (which wav files do not), have built in CRCs in the files so that they can be easily checked for corruption after copying to a new HD (or even just sitting on the existing HD).
