How do I add flac files to library and play them (new user!)

Hi - I have just joined the dbpoweramp community having been a Winamp user. All my music is ripped to a Musicm8 server in both flac and mp3 formats. I have purchased dbpoweramp and downloaded the dbpoweramp player and am trying to add my music to the library and play it. dbp allows me to add mp3 files but does not seem to recognise flac files at all. Similarly, dbp player will not play flac files. Am I missing something fundamental here or have I misunderstood how dbp works. Would appreciate any help!! Thanks.

dbpoweramp (the player) is very old now, I would recommend something like foobar2000.
