I just want to make sure I'm doing this right before I really get into ripping all of my CDs. Since dbpoweramp only gives one option when ripping to FLAC which is 1-8 or lossless uncompressed, I'm thinking I should go with lossless uncompressed since the huge file size doesn't bother me. Does that makes sense? Also, when playing back a FLAC song in Winamp, it shows that the compression is 100%. Why does it say that and what does it mean?

100% means uncompressed. The audio quality is the same for all modes, as each mode decompresses identical. -

FLAC is also very fast on decoding, and compression level means virtually nothing to decoding speed (on a conventional drive higher compression may even speed up), so you might just as well choose the "8" option. It only takes slightly more time to encode, but that is done only once.Comment
