Playing FLAC files

When I rip from cd using dbpoweramp in Flac format the files appear as itunes music player files which I don't particularly want How do I stop that and what player apart from itunes would anyone recommend?

for computer based player, I recommend foobar2000.

I don't understand how itunes is playing your FLAC files. Itunes won't play FLAC files.
