Batch converting ALAC to FLAC along with artwork

I'm in the process of switching from an ipod to a device that does not support my ALAC-encoded collection, so I'm keen to convert everything to FLAC. I've tried using dBpoweramp to manage this conversion, but can't get the ALAC-embedded artwork to carry over. I have ~1800 albums in ALAC, so working manually isn't really an option.

Am I missing something? Or is there a setting or plug-in that'll let me do this?

Have you tried the "Folder.jpg Preserve" DSP Effect?

If iTunes created the files you need to be 100% sure that the art is embedded, as normally it is not.

I've entered all the artwork myself - always copy-pasted into Get Info dialogue in iTunes for the songs. Would that be 100%-sure embedded?

I've heard that the only way to do an alac-flac conversion (conserving artwork) is with a mac. This program Max can apparently do it. I suppose vmwaring OSX might be a solution here, but I hope to find a pc solution.

Oh, and I tried the suggested dsp effect but it didn't generate any folder.jpg at all for my test files. Unfortunately, no luck.

        Thanks for your help, all.

If you right click on one of the ALAC files >> Edit IT Tags

if art is embedded it will be shown on that page.
