Can I manually choose meta tags from a database?

I have a good number of LPs that I have burned to CD over the years, and then carefully faded in and out of tracks to create nice CDs. Now that I'm ripping my entire collection to FLAC, I'd love to be able to do the same to these "custom" CDs without retyping what is already out there. The problem is, of course, they don't map to anyone else's CD copy of the same album / track listings.

I've searched the forums with no success..Is there any way to tell dBpoweramp (or please suggest some other software) "I know what artist and album this is, so let me manually choose it and then you map the track titles and meta tags for me".

Forgive me, but why is it not possible? I can certainly accept that the technology is not yet available, but if I have 14 tracks and I know exactly which CD/LP those 14 tracks came from, it should be possible to query one of the available databases for a particular artist, choose the appropriate release, and then be off and running.

Right? I mean, I am certainly not trying to trivialize the programming involved, but there's no reason that this is impossible is there?
