    How do I encode to MP3 after encoding the album to FLAC?

    Hi all,

    Does anyone know how to:
    - rip a CD;
    - encode all the tracks to FLAC with ReplayGain tags added; and then
    - encode all the tracks to MP3 applying the album gain tag?

    I worked out how to use Multi-Encoder to encode both FLAC and MP3. The FLAC files have ReplayGain tags, but each track gets encoded to MP3 immediately after the track has been ripped and encoded to FLAC - it can't possibly be applying the album gain tag, can it?

    What I need to do is somehow make sure the MP3 encoding doesn't start until the whole CD is finished ripping by which time the album gain value is calculated.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    Use r14.1 from the beta section and album gain work correctly if added to the dsp section for each individual encoder

      Thanks for the reply - I tried 14.1 but I'm not sure it's working right.

      The MP3s are encoded immediately after each song is ripped an encoded to FLAC. Surely it needs to wait 'til the whole album is ripped and encoded to FLAC before the Album Gain can be calculated and applied? Or am I missing something?

      I've got the 'ReplayGain' DSP added to the FLAC encoder with 'Calculate Track Gain' and 'Calculate Album Gain' both ticked and the 'ReplayGain (Apply)' DSP added to the MP3 encoder, with the mode set to Album Gain.

        Sorry I thought you were just calculating Album Gain, if you wish to apply it you will have to calc Album gain in the FLAC, then convert to mp3 with Apply set, a 2 step process.

          Ok, thanks Spoon - I appreciate the help.

          Any chance this can be added in a future version? I'm not a programmer but it seems simple enough.

          Cheers.
