I'm using RipNas essentials to rip my CD's into FLAC files. Today, I noticed that both the Replay Gain and Replay Gain Apply dsps were set. That surprised me as I didn't recall activating the Replay Gain Apply dsp. I have, however, always used Replay Gain (to calculate track and album gain), as it's my understanding that the dsp does not affect the audio quality of the rips - it just creates a tag. So, a few questions:
First: Does Replay Gain Apply affect the audio quality of the ripped files or is it just like Replay Gain in that it simply creates a tag?
Second: if Replay Gain Apply does indeed affect audio quality, is there a way for me to determine which of my rips may've been created when /the Replay Gain Apply dsp was activated?
Third: if the audio is affected is it possible to "restore" the files by removing any changes caused by Replay Gain Apply?
Thanks.
