Replay gain dsp vs. replay gain apply dsp

I'm using RipNas essentials to rip my CD's into FLAC files. Today, I noticed that both the Replay Gain and Replay Gain Apply dsps were set. That surprised me as I didn't recall activating the Replay Gain Apply dsp. I have, however, always used Replay Gain (to calculate track and album gain), as it's my understanding that the dsp does not affect the audio quality of the rips - it just creates a tag. So, a few questions:

First: Does Replay Gain Apply affect the audio quality of the ripped files or is it just like Replay Gain in that it simply creates a tag?

Second: if Replay Gain Apply does indeed affect audio quality, is there a way for me to determine which of my rips may've been created when /the Replay Gain Apply dsp was activated?

Third: if the audio is affected is it possible to "restore" the files by removing any changes caused by Replay Gain Apply?

    Thanks.

You should not have replaygain apply, it probably would not have done anything as there were no existing replaygain tags for it to use.

Thanks Spoon. I already removed the RG Apply dsp action from my settings. Are you saying that Apply works only after I've ripped a file and created Replay Gain tags? In other words, even if both dsps were active, and Replay Gain tags were created during the ripping process, RG Apply does nothing during the ripping process and can change a file only after its created (I guess by running the files through BatchConvert w/the RGApply dsp)?
