    How can we create custom albumartist folder names without affecting albumartist tag?

    Given a band or albumartist name like The Lonesome River Band, is it possible to create a directory tree (path) that looks like this--but without affecting the album artist name in the Vorbis comment field value. In other words, for this example, we would like the path to look like this:

    Lonesome River Band, The / Album Name / Track-Title.flac

    where the artist or albumartist is identified by this Vorbis Comment:

    ALBUMARTIST=The Lonesome River Band

    Thanks in advance for clues on how to do this, if it can be done automatically and on the fly.

    You want to just automatically remove 'The ' from all album artists?

      No, I don't think so.

      First of all, the path that we use to rip our CDs follows this pattern:

      Album Artist / Album / Track-Title.flac

      If the band is publicly recognized, known as and called "The Lonesome River Band", we want to retain that name precisely in the various vorbis comments and in any reports or streaming program data that we generate on the fly during playout to air.

      It's the name for the folder containing the album artist's albums that we want to be able to list in alphabetical order to aid in visual searches of the directory tree.

      1. Album Artist, The / Album / Track-Title.flac

      or

      2. Album Artist (omit the word "The" if it is the first word) / Album / Track-Title.flac

      Is the latter what you meant by your question? That would be OK most of the time, but it would be kind of weird if the band name was "The Band" or certain other one-word names, like "The Who." We'd prefer to move the initial "The" to the end of the folder name, like "Band, The" or "Who, The" to make it obvious what the full name of the group or band really is.

      Thanks in advance.
