    Why can't I "convert to" w/dbpoweramp when I right-click Windows Explorer > Music?

On the "dBpoweramp Music Converter" page of Illustrate, it says to right-click on music files which I access through Windows Explorer, and then I'll be able to convert them.

But I can't. Instead, when I right-click on a group of songs in a folder in which I've selected them all, the only options I have are to "add to WMP list" or "Play with WMP." And something Norton will do. Nothing about dbpoweramp at all, as it shows on this page:

    file:///C:/Program%20Files/Illustrate/dBpoweramp/Help/dMC/dMC.htm

    Why can't I "convert to" w/dbpoweramp when I right-click Windows Explorer > Music?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Jay

If you have selected multiple files of different types then the Convert To would not appear, instead use 'dBpoweramp Batch Converter'

Okay. I tried that, but the files aren't in the folder now. These files may be from some weird DVD someone sent me awhile back, which I've never been able to access, and which I'd forgotten about until I used Windows Explorer to access my music today. If they're still unaccessible, it's not a big deal.

I use iTunes, and access my music that way 99% of the time. The reason I downloaded dbpoweramp was because I wanted to see how a FLAC file could be converted to an Apple Lossless file. I kind of figured it out, but the process was anything but intuitive, so I thought I'd try db.

My main concern is that I want to download some FLAC files on a Deutsche Grammophon website for Mahler's 150th birthday (www.mahler150.com), but I want to play them as ALAC files in iTunes.

      Thanks for your help.

Your source files are FLAC and you want to convert to Apple Lossless?

If the files have a .FLAC extension they would appear in R13.5 (as it contains a FLAC decoder as standard).

I don't know what it means to "appear in R13.5." Thanks.

That dBpoweramp R13.5 would recognize the FLAC files.

I figured out what you're talking about, Spoon. I have 13.5.0.0 as my Music Converter. No "R", though.

I also figured out that the files I first spoke of aren't FLAC. I do have some FLAC files, though, in the same "Music" folder. I thought everything there was FLAC, or it wouldn't have been there.

So my question becomes, how do I turn these FLAC files into ALAC files?

                  Thanks.

For the flac files, right click on one and you should have Convert To shown.

Thank you, Spoon. I think I've got it now.
