    convert lossless archive to mp3

I have my entire collection of bootleg concerts saved in either flac or shn. I would like to know how to convert the entire thing to mp3 to put on my portable device. The way I was going about it was to burn a cd then import to itunes (itunes recognizes a surprisingly large number of unofficial live releases). Obviously this is an extremely time consuming process. I want to know if there is a way to convert my whole collection as a batch while maintaining my tags and especially my folder structures?

Install dBpoweramp Music Converter, install the Shorten codec then use Batch Converter to convert the whole lot direct to mp3.

I came here looking for the same answer. I recently purchased db and I am ripping my collection to flac (both for archiving and use on my main computer).

Once completed I would like to convert all of the tracks to mp3 for my ipod...while keeping the flac/ archived version. This is probably the dumb question of the day, but the word convert to me means change from one thing to another...

It isn't actually changing the flac file, correct? I would still have all of my music as flac, but it would create a second folder with whatever mp3 bitrate I go with?

      Thanks!

correct. you'll have a location with all your FLAC files and you'll also have a different location with all the mp3 files created from FLAC files. So you'll have both. I do the same thing. Rip to FLAC, clean up tags and art as needed to be perfect. This becomes my archive. Then I use dbpa to "convert" these FLAC files to mp3 (lame -v2) for use on IPODs. These mp3 files I have created in a different directory structure. so when done I have the flac files and a mirror image with mp3 files.:

        x:\Music\FLAC\Artist\Album\...
        x:\Music\mp3\artist\album\....
