    How do I tag .aif?

Not a dbpoweramp specific problem I suppose, but since I'm using dbf for all other ripping and can't find a solution...

I have a lot of files recorded 24/96 on an Alesis Masterlink which records natively to .aif files. How do I add tags to these files? I'e tried right clicking on the files in Windows and using the tag editor but it doesn't save. Can't find another program that will do this either. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks for any help.

Make sure the files are not read only and you have the AIF dbpoweramp codecs installed.

Picked up your reply at the office during the day and kicked myself under the desk for being so stupid.

Got home and tried it and the files are not read only and indeed I do have the AIF codec installed because I'm ripping with to AIF with no issues. I just can't work with the tags of an AIF file. It opens the tag tab if I right click on a file, I can enter information but if I hit apply and close then reopen, no info is retained. Anything else you can think of that I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

As a test try tagging an AIFF file which dBpoweramp created, or better still rip one audio track to AIFF, was it tagged?

Sorry for the delay, I travel for a living.

Files ripped by DBP have tags.

I am trying to use the tagger that integrates into the Windows shell with the right click. If I use that on a file created by DBP it works fine. But if I try to tag an aif created by an Alesis Masterlink it does not save.

I tried using the convert tool from the right click and converted aif to aif with everything set to "as source". The resulting file can be tagged.

That makes it workable, just inconvenient. Any idea why?

I am guessing there is a partial tag written by that program which we are not recognizing, hence why dbpoweramp tags are not sticking.
