Convert older (non-1.2.1) FLAC files to newest codec version?

... without unnecessarily recompressing existing 1.2.1 FLAC files?

Is it possible? If so, how?

    Thank you.

You have to recompress to get to the newer version.

      I should have been clearer...

*Some* of the 7,500 FLAC tracks are already v.1.2.1, Level 8. It's only the ones that aren't already v.1.2.1., Level 8 that I want to recompress.

In Batch Converter you could select the folder with all files, click List and switch on the Encoder Details Column (right click on a column header), then sort on the encoder. Select the ones you do not want (click once at top and shift click at the bottom to select all) and click the check box to remove the conversion of these files.
