How do I convert Itunes playlist to mp3?

I am new to mp3 players, I received a small clipon as a gift. I do not own Ipod but roommate uses Itunes and has IPod Classic. I created a small playlist from her playlist and want to convert them to my mp3 player. How to Geek suggested dbpoweramp as safe and secure. When trying to convert, I get error msg that states: "unable to load decoder for file type '.m4a', codec not installed. visit codec central" I don't know what to do in codec central, I may be in over my head but its not that hard, is it?? Thanks!

You need to visit this page in codec central http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-m4a.htm to get the m4a decoder codec which you'll need to download and install before you can convert m4a files.
