How do I batch tag FLAC tracks

Hi,

I have a few albums in FLAC. The tracks have no tags but they are arranged in a Artist\Album directory structure. Can I add tags based on that structure so at the very least I have them tagged for artist and album (maybe adding other fixed tags in the process: genre, rating, etc.)??

dbpa doesn't do any tag lookups or adding metadata once ripped, it will only tag files while ripping.

there is a tag processing dsp addon, but I don't think it can tag by filename.

your better off using a mass tagger type program like mp3tag or mediamonkey which has 'tag by filename' functions.

I use mediamonkey myself, you would simply set a mask according to your folder/filenames such as:

<album artist> - <album>\<track#> - <artist> - <title>

or however your files are named.

mp3tag will do what you want for the FLAC files.

dBpowerAMP does have a utility codec that can update the tags based of the file name and its folder structure.

Yes, the utility codecs (Tag from Filename, ID tag update) are the way to go, if you already use batch converter is a breeze. Thanks all for the responses.
