    can't convert mp3's

When I try to convert mp3's that I've recently downloaded from Amazon and mp3va from 320k to 192k I get the message "The CODEC required to compress 'D:\Audio\whateversong.mp3.TEMP.mp3' could not be opened".
I've used this program for quite sometime now but I've been getting that a lot here lately. What do I need to do to correct this.

Is it always the same files which fail to convert? where other files work?

any and all that are downloaded from the net (bearshare, amazon, mp3va, etc.) will give this error message. Ripped music converts fine.

thanks LtData, the blade version seems to be doing the trick!

knew I should have left well enough alone. Upgraded to dmc-r13.2 and now Blade is gone, how do I get it back?

Spoon was actually the one that replied to your e-mail, btw, not myself. How did he have you install blade before? What version of dMC were you using?

The file he sent converted fine to mp3 Lame in R13.2

Actually thinking about it, the rest of the message "The CODEC required to compress 'D:\Audio\whateversong.mp3.TEMP.mp3' could not be opened" might be about the mp3 encoder expiring, check the registered status of dBpoweramp.

sorry for the delay. my old one was dmc r-10. I have r-13.2 now, it works on ripped files and my mp3va.com downloaded music but not on my Bearshare downloads. the conversion errors say:
                            Error converting to mp3(Lame), 'D:\music dwnld\the song.wma' to 'D:\music dwnld\the song.mp3'
This WMA is protected and cannot be decoded, file 'D:\music dwnld\the song.wma' [clDecoder::Open]

I put in the song.wma instead of putting in the lengthy band name and song title.

If the file is a WMA file, can you play it in Windows Media Player?
