I'm trialling dBPA to rip my CD collection into FLAC, storing it on my ReadyNAS NV+ and playing back primarily with SqueezeCenter. When I'm happy with this, I'll convert the FLACs to mp3s for my portable players, but that will come later.
I've ripped a number of CDs and I'm testing out my ripping settings before proceeding. One problem I discovered is that every CD that is not a part of a multidisc set (i.e. a single CD) displays DISC 1 in the album title in SqueezeCenter.
I've since discovered that if I change Multi-CD Add Disc to Album option to Never and uncheck Disc Number in Write ID Tags (under Metadata & ID Tag Options) then I get what I want for single discs. I've saved two profiles, one for single discs and one for multi-discs and I'm ok from this point forward.
BUT, how do I fix the already ripped CDs short of re-ripping them all (only 40 so far, so not too bad). I thought that by removing the DISCNUM & DISCTOTAL entries I'd fix the ripped CDs. I've done it in Mp3Tag (DISCNUMBER & TOTALDISCS there), but that didn't work. The album names don't have DISC 1 in them either that I can see. At this point I don't know how to fix the problem. Is there some other tag I'm missing? Oh, and yes I've rebuilt the SC database and rebooted the NAS.
