Can a .cda be converted - Not from a CD ??

    Hi There,

I was sent by email a .cda audio file - which is 44 bytes; pressumably this is a audio track file - detail listing - and not the actual audio sound file. As that, as I understand it - the audio file would be in .wav or mp3 format ?

I'm seriously thinking about purchasing your DMC music conversion program -
Can your program convert the .cda file, which has been downloaded to my HD on my computer - to Mp3 format?

The file did not come on CD, so I tried to copy to a CD - but still the file would not play or open.

Would your program convert the Hard Drive .cda file to Mp3 Format?

    Or

Do I need to get the friend who sent this to me; send the file again - but on the original CD ? He used a CD Recorder to record a piano demo; and could only send me the .cda file from his computer. I don't know if the file originated from the CD Recorder to CD.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

No, .cda files are just pointers to the actual data on the CD, if they are not on the CD they are worthless. He would have to rip the CD to mp3 or something similar or send you the original CD.

OK, many thanks for your reply.

Is there any programs which would convert the .cda file?

And Once I have the original CD - would your program (or others) work for the conversion for .cda to mp3?

No, the .cda file is useless without the CD. If you get the original audio CD, you can use any CD ripping software, including dBpoweramp, to rip the CD to the format you want.
