    How do I convert fla files (to, say, mp3)?

    The download site for the flac codec says it handles fla files as well ("optionally"). But I don't succeed. To begin with, the converter window will show (and open) all sorts of audio files, but fails to do so for fla files: they just remain invisible.
    How do I convert fla files to, say, flac or mp3? How do I get the fla option? (While downloading and installing the flac codec I didn't come across any such option.)

    What happens if you rename the suffix from .fla to .flac?

      .fla can also be flash files, we cannot convert those.

        This is a simple and VERY useful suggestion!
        1. Winamp plays the file as well as any flac
        2. the converter converts it to mp3 without hesitating.
        It thus seems that a fla file is nothing but a flac with the end-c in its name missing?
        Thank you very much, Wayne!

          For future reference, the option is in dBpoweramp Configuration on the Codecs tab under Advanced Options

            To amplify what Spoon and LtData have said:
            - You can set dMC to recognize .fla files as FLAC in the Configuration setting;
            - If this adjustment is made, dMC will attempt to read and convert .fla files as FLAC;
            - If the .fla files ARE FLAC files, everything shoud go ok;
            - If the .fla are Flash files (another possibility) dMC will crash - just how bad I don't know and I'm not willing to try it just to find out.

            So do be careful with trying the option to read .fla as FLAC if you deal with .fla Flash files. Wayne's suggestion (to relabel the .fla file as .flac) might, I suspect, be less painful to dMC (but I do not know this for a fact and I am not in a mood to test this theory either), but Kees' practice of seeing if the files in question PLAY as FLAC files is perhaps the most sound precaution of all.

            Best wishes,
            Bill
