how do I use dmc aux input in Vista

    Hello,

I have had a computer with XP for the last 4 years and am getting a new computer with Vista. (I may also look into setting up a partition w/ Linux in the near future). I have done a radio show for several years and have recorded directly from the stereo w/ my radio station through a USB sound card (eg 'Edirol USB Audio Interface') to a hard drive using dMC Aux Input. I have done this in FLAC for about a year. I want to continue to do this with my new computer, however:

My understanding was that dMC is available on 11.5 (which I have been using) and not any of the 12s.
Also, my understanding is that 11.5 is not compatible w/ Vista, and that 12 may have aux input at some time in the near or distant future. (And maybe there is a v13).
Flac requires a driver and I don't know if that is a problem in later versions (it seemed to be time consuming when I did set it up last year).

Feel free to talk about doing this w/ Linux/Wine (which I don't know a hell of a lot about) but if at all possible, tell me how to set up some system by which I can use dMC Aux Input to record my radio shows in FLAC in Windows Vista.

    Thank you.

I don't think Aux Input will work with Vista, though I have not heard anything definite either way. What happens when you try to use Aux Input to record as you play? Do you get an error message, no sound, or what?

Edit: scratch that, as reported below and by another user, Aux Input does work in Vista.

Well, thanks for responding, as it turns out 11.5 Aux Input DOES work in Vista. I successfully recorded a <1 minute music file and played it back on my stereo receiver.

Now all I need to do is find the Flac CODEC that will work with 11.5. Since we know that 11.5 aux input does work, it's just a matter of me finding that lossless addition. Can somebody please direct me to the correct addition? The FLAC codec that is currently available says it requires version 12 or newer. (I did use 11.5 w/ Flac on my old computer, I installed that addition last May).

See the link at the top of Codec Central for Legacy Codec Central, there you can download the FLAC codec you need.

It says it works for v12 or later. I specifically downloaded 11.5 because I wanted aux input. I don't think v12 has aux input. Should I assume that it is available for 11.5 even though it says it's not?

The legacy codecs are "pre v12". See this link and scroll down for FLAC.

No, at the top of codec central you have to click the "Legacy Codec Central" link to get to codecs for dMC r11.5 and older: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy/cod...ral-legacy.htm

What did you do to get 11.5 aux input to work? Did you just install the entire dbpoweramp 11.5 package?
