    How do I install dBpoweramp-Codec-FLAC.exe?

I'm new to dBpoweramp. Just downloaded and installed dBpoweramp-r2.exe. None of my .flac files show up in the Music Collection, so finally determined that the dBpoweramp-Codec-FLAC.exe must be installed. When I run dBpoweramp-Codec-FLAC.exe, the following msg is returned: Error whilst running 'C:ProgramFiles\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\dBconfig.exe '. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing with the same results. I'm running XP Professional SP 2.

    Thanks,

    Kern

If you are running dAP, you need to have it installed to a separate location from dMC r12 and, if you don't have dMC r12, use the codecs from Legacy Codec Central, NOT the main Codec Central.

Thanks for your response. I've tried 4 or 5 different combinations of versions and install locations of the player, converter and flac codec. The error msg went away, but the player still does not recognize any flac files. This software looks very attractive, but the installation is obviously beyond my technical ability and patience.

I'll look around for other flac players. Thanks again for your help and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience. I know it must be frustrating to deal with non-technical users…

I have to say, I am of the same mind. I have tried to install and reinstall, and I still cannot get the flac codec to work. It shows in version 11.5 of the DMC, but not in the player. I have installed the legacy codecs--well at least I have downloaded and run the executable. How exactly are the codecs to be installed in the player? What directory do they need to be in?

The support info on the website is so obtuse that it makes no sense....

Release 12 of Music Converter is a significant step forward, a complete redesign. Architectural differences between Release 12 and previous (last major R11.5) of dBpoweramp render the above mentioned programs incompatible with Release 12. Illustrate are working hard to update the mentioned programs to the new design, until then follow this work around to obtain a working R12 and 'legacy' installation:

Obtain a working install of the above mentioned programs (for Auxiliary Input install the previous R11.5 dBpoweramp or registered R11.5)
Install Release 12 of Music Converter into a different folder, such as dBpowerampR12 (without uninstalling previous version, same for Codecs)
<<NB: Audio CD Input icon is for R11.5, CD Ripper uses R12>> What does this mean?
Legacy Codec Central contains older pre-R12 codecs make sure they are installed in the same location as the older R11.5 dBpoweramp.

<<When the affected programs are updated to R12 compatibility, uninstall all dbpoweramp programs, reboot and install programs as normal.>> ???

<<NB: Audio CD Input icon is for R11.5, CD Ripper uses R12>> What does this mean?
When you have dMC r11.5 and r12 installed, you will have a "Audio CD Input" and "CD Ripper" icons in the dMC start menu folder. The first one, Audio CD Input, is r11.5, the "CD Ripper" is r12.
<<When the affected programs are updated to R12 compatibility, uninstall all dbpoweramp programs, reboot and install programs as normal.>> ???
When all the programs are updated to use r12 codecs, uninstall all dBpoweramp programs, reboot, and then reinstall the programs and codecs.

Do you have dMC r11.5 and dAP installed to the same directory? If not, uninstall dAP and install it to the same directory as dMC.
