Coming from EAC.. Some options missing.

    Hello,

I am currently trialling dBpoweramp CD ripper.

Before I purchase, there is a few things I could do with EAC, I cannot work out how to do with dBpoweramp.

    1. Put in my own commandline with FLAC. How do I do this?
    2. Make dBpoweramp keep ripping, while encoding is happening in the background, rather than rip, stop, encode, then rip, stop, encode etc.
    3. The ability to "Transform Actual CD Imformation" like in EAC. I like to have all words start with a capital. In EAC, I could easily convert whatever was downloaded from CDDB into my own format. Cannot find a way to do this in the CD Ripper.

Apart from these annoyances, its a good program so far.

The "Transform Actual CD Information" would be the deal breaker for me buying unfortunately.

    Thanks

    1. Use the CLI Encoder codec, download the flac.exe, then make your own command-lines to your hearts content.
    2. If you have Reference and multiple CPU cores, this happens.
    3. Could you specify exactly what you mean?

      1. Can't seem to work out CLI. Not as easy as EAC is just entering in the CMD line from EAC I have copied
      2. I am using Reference and it is now using both the CPU's
      3. Here is a screenshot:

      Its the option from EAC.

      Cheers

        1. It is different from EAC, but you should be able to paste in your command-line string after pointing dMC to the FLAC .exe. However, I have not used this codec before so I am unsure exactly how to use it.
        3. So you are wanting to basically mass-edit the CD data retrieved from FreeDB/AMG? This is not an option in dMC, unfortunately.

For item 3 could you use the ID Tag Update codec to update the details after ripping is complete?

            Thats unfortunate.

Sometimes the data from CDDB needs to be changed. EAC made this very easy. Should not have to edit files after they have been ripped.

Maybe it could be added as a feature to dBpoweramp?

            Thanks

You can use the "ID Tag Update" DSP effect to manipulate the tags of the file in the method you describe while you rip.

Also, I just realized that with the dMC naming scheme, you can use UPPER and LOWER to make the filename in all uppercase or lowercase. However, there is not a "Capitalize Every Word" option. See here for further information about dMC's naming scheme: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=13928

I ended up purchasing. It is an awesome program and has been faster than EAC. I still wish I had the option to capitalize every word before ripping, but that might come in the future!
