How do I actually get Auxiliary Input working?

It is running, (I am not recording anything from microphone) all I want to do is record audio from this video in VLC but the recording level meter never raises so I know it is not working. What is the problem?

Your soundcard might not support 'record what you hear', not all do.

Open up the volume control window, go to Options --> Properties then click "recording" and look at what options you have at the bottom. If you do not see a "Stereo Mix" or "What-U-Hear" option, tell us what you do see there.

Edit: also, see here for some aux input tips: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=7318
