      In Google type:

      Pure voice from Qualcomm

The first link that comes up should be "Qualcomm Products and Services - PureVoice®"
so click on that URL, which is:

Then pick the 6th option which is "PureVoice Converter 3.5 for Windows (README)" - link is
a ZIP file which you save on your computer and open.
Once installed the directory is "PVconverter_windows_v3_5" which is where you put the ".qcp"
      that you want converted.

Open up a DOS window (CMD prompt), get into that directory, then type "pvconv filename.qcp"
and it will create a file called "filename.wav" (sound quality is not that good).

Re: .QCP to .mp3 or .Wav

I texted a .qcp file (a voicemail) to my email, opened it with Audacity, and was able to export it as an .mp3 file.

Just note that there is a secondary plugin you have to download to be able to export to .mp3 with this program.

        Hope this helps

I did this, & it worked the 1st time, but now it just doesn't do anything! I open the prog, & a small DOS-like window opens for like 1 second-literally-& then closes. & when I try & right click on the sound file & choose open w/, nothing happens at all! What is the issue?

NOTE: I keep getting an error msg when I just hold down the Enter key while it's selected claiming it's not a valid .qcp nor .wav file. & it is! It was copied & pasted from my mem card from my phone, after moving it to the card on my phone's memory.

Re: .QCP to .mp3 or .Wav

I've transfered some qcp files and wish to convert them to wav (or just play them back on a computer). I've tried all google found links for qcp files such as qcpconverter, audioconverter, and what looked liked a great solution near the end of this thread to open the qcp up in audacity. None, of these programs are able to open the qcp files made from my VX9900 phone.

EJC_74, the window you see quickly when you open pvconv is a dos program. You need to cd to the directory where the qcp files are then run

            pvconv file.qcp file.wav

to convert it to wav. Unfortunately i can't do this because the compression used in my qcp files is not available. If anyone sees this message and got it resolved, please post:

            $ pvconv file.qcp file.wav
ERROR: Unable to create audio decoder instance - the codec type might not be supported by this library

            UPDATE:
actually this link might provide some help, i haven't tried this but in theory it looks like the only way

I just wanted to note that I followed your directions and Audacity does not open qcp files. Why even bother posting something that is obviously a lie. If there is a way to make Audacity open QCP files please enlighten us! I created an account here just to post this message....

The search for a converter continues!

Hallelujah!!! A legit solution! Thank you tenor12 and Zack! :komisch9: Though, once it's .qcp file is open in the program, you have to select 'convert' first then 'save as...' which automatically saves in .wav format! Just one thing, it has to be done to each file - no batch option, which is A-OK since beggers can't be choosy! Thanks again!!

Re: .QCP to .mp3 or .Wav

The QCP file format is used by many cellular telephone manufacturers to provide ring tones and record voice. However, this Qualcom PureVoice (specifically a LG or Motorola recorded QCP file or QCP with TIA IS-127 Enhanced Variable Rate Codec, Speech Service Option 3 ) is not compatible with most media player and not supported by Windows and Mac. It will end in fail if you try to play the recorded QCP file with Windows Media Player, iTunes, QuickTime on Windows or Mac computer.

In order to successfully play QCP files anywhere, converting QCP to MP3/WAV/WMA will be a recommended solution.

Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert QCP to MP3, WAV, WMA on Windows or Mac

You will find a detailed guide on how to convert QCP to MP3, it also applies to convert QCP to MP3, WAV, WMA, M4A,&*65279; AAC, AC3, OGG, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC and etc.
